"The Reiju this morning was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! I felt the peaceful, very relaxing energy begin to flow, at 8 am ... and I did NOT want it to end! Because I had another appointment, I reluctantly opened my eyes about 8:30. Soooo peacefull!!! "The last time I experienced anything that relaxing -- keep in mind I've had dozens of attunements: Usui, Karuna, Gendai -- was in the 60's when I practiced TM (Transcendental Meditation). And, I've been looking for that high level relaxation and experience, ever since!! "I clearly felt the energy, pulsating, in both my palms, which were facing up, as I rested them on the top of each knee. This coming from one who has had difficulty sensing/being aware of the Energy in myself or others! "I was so relaxed and peaceful after the Reiju that I saw people in a more loving, peaceful way! "Wow -- how about that...!!" ----- Dave Bause

REIJUREIJUIS AN EMPOWERMENT METHOD used in the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai in Tokyo. It was first introduced to the world at large in August 1999, at a conference of Reiki Masters in Vancouver B.C., by Mr. Hiroshi Doi, a member of the Usui Gakkai. We were told in Vancouver that Reiju was the empowerment method used by Mikao Usui (though the version demonstrated by Mr. Doi was his own Gendai Reiju). Within the next year, we learned that an English Reiki Master, Chris Marsh, had established connections with several people in Japan who had learned Reiki from Usui himself (see article about these contacts, written by Reiki Master Andrew Bowling). One of these is a Buddhist nun and a niece of Usui's wife (surname Suzuki). These people began teaching Chris the method - which they call Usui-Do (the "Usui Way") or Usui Teate ("Usui hand-application") - as they had learned it, including a Reiju procedure slightly different than Mr. Doi's. Clearly, there were several (at least) versions of Usui's teachings. He tailored his teaching very specifically to suit the interests and abilities of each individual student; and his own knowledge and understanding naturally evolved over time, as well. Reiki Master Dave King, for example, teaches a version of Usui-Do that does not include Reiju and has nothing to do with healing others; it is strictly a way of spiritual self-connection. (Dave learned this from a Mr. Yuji Onuki, who had been taught by a close friend and student of Mikao Usui, Toshihiro Eguchi.) The Usui-Do that Chris Marsh has been learning, though also primarily for one's own spiritual awakening, does involve some healing of others. It's widely accepted that Usui himself was greatly renowned as a healer (his fame in this regard probably coming from his healing of countless victims of the 1923 Kanto earthquake). And one of Usui's final students, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, is the one who focused Usui's teachings almost completely toward the healing of others. Most likely, it was also Hayashi who began calling the method Reiki instead of Usui-Do. In any case, energetic empowerments of some kind are fundamental to Reiki as currently practiced. These are often called "attunements" or "transformations" (a term and a procedure also coined by Hayashi, it seems). Since learning the Usui Reiju procedure given to Chris Marsh by the Japanese students, I've been using it exclusively - with remarkable results, both in person and remotely. My conscious intent, in using Usui Reiju, is to open what I call the Source-dimension within the recipient. I feel that every particle of matter is created and sustained by this non-physical Source-dimension within it -- and my intent is to open and expand the continuous flow of this Source-energy, for our awakening and well-being. If you would like to receive Usui Reiju, it's my pleasure to give. You can move your pointer to the photo of the cactus blossom (above), where you will then see a photo of me. If you click on the photo, you'll be able to send me an email. Please tell me a little about yourself - where you live, whether you have any experience with Reiki, and anything else you like - and we'll arrange a time for you to receive Usui Reiju (it takes only a few minutes). For those who would like to learn to give Usui Reiju, it's taught as part of Shinpiden (3rd-level Reiki). Please feel free to email me about that, as well (distance is no problem; I have students all over the world).
